Danny Moore Colson Sr.

May 21, 1954 — October 5, 2021

It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Danny Moore Colson, Sr. announce his passing from his earthly home into the joy of heaven on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

Danny was a very vibrant and active 67 years old. He was born in Savannah, GA to Ernest B. Colson, Jr. and Helen Griner White. He moved to Tampa, FL during his younger years and graduated from Chamberlain High School. After which, he and his best friend, Ken Davis, trekked across the country to California in a dune buggy. Oh, the stories he told from that adventure. He moved back to Savannah in 1985. This is where he eventually met and married his loving wife, Cindy. They did everything together from that moment on. Danny was a man that could do ANYTHING! From building horse stalls, to rebuilding lawn mower engines, to dock building. And he taught Cindy everything she knows. He, along with Cindy, was owner/operator of Danny’s Lawn Service for 10 years before driving and eventually owning their own semi trucks. Danny taught Cindy how to drive semi trucks and she always joked about how he was able to do that and they were still married. He never spoke in anger and had nothing but patience and encouragement with her. He went on to become a member and employee of the International Longshoreman’s Association Local 1475. Danny was a member of Compassion Christian Church Henderson, where he loved to hear the word of God.

Danny enjoyed fishing on the lake and flying his Aerolite 103. We were so proud and excited for him to realize one of his life's dreams, flying his Ultralight aircraft. But his greatest passion was his family. He loved his children and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He was a wonderful son to his mother, and a great brother to his sisters.

He was known as “Big” to his grandchildren and loved every minute he was able to spend with them. He was always looking for the next fun thing he could get them.

Danny never met a stranger and always had a smile.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest B. Colson, III.

He will be greatly missed by his best friend and devoted wife, Cindy Colson; sons, Danny M. “Rock” Colson, Jr. (Jessica) and Thomas Lambros (Rachel); daughter, Ashleigh Lambros; grandchildren, Beckam and Bennett Colson, Evan, Eli, Levi, Ryker and Aurora Lambros; sisters, Cheryl Hull (Eric), Nancy Colson Jobe and Crystal Noriega Taylor; sister in law, Diane Colson; and twelve nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Thursday October 14, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11am in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel 2794 US Highway 80 West Garden City, GA 31408. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Danny’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org or Compassion International at www.compassion.com , both charities near and dear to Danny’s heart.
