CWO4 Harry R. Prince, Jr., U.S. Air Force (Ret), 93 years old, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at home.
He was born December 22, 1927 in Scotia, SC to the late Harry and Ida Prince. He was a 1944 graduate of Estill High School and a 1960 graduate of Armstrong College.
He served 37 years in the United States Air Force and GA Air National Guard, as a Communications Officer CWO4, receiving various awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and Meritorious Service Award. In addition he served 3 years in the U. S. Merchant Marines. He was also a member of the 117 TCS & 283 CCS Associations, GA ANG. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #183, The GA ANG Association, The U.S. ANG Association and member of the RV Amateur Radio Club, NARFE and a member of the Higher Ground Baptist Church (formerly Cresthill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ida Prince; son, Michel; daughter, Ann Prince; and first wife of 54 years, Betty Prince. Surviving is his wife of 16 years, Jerri Prince; her 3 sons, Bruce, Keith, and Mark Godwin; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Rebecca Brewer and Jessie McTeir.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Meldrim Oak Hill Cemetery, Meldrim, GA with full military honors.
