Clyde Upson Fosmire, Jr., 82, died Tuesday, January 29, 2018 at his home after a brief illness. He was born September 6, 1935 to Clyde Upson Fosmire and Annie (Johnston) Fosmire.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents Clyde U. and Annie J. Fosmire; his brother, Dr. William (Bill) Fosmire; and his sister, Annie L. Pace.
Clyde is survived by his longtime companion and partner, Tracy Spann; his sister, Nancy Solomons, his sister-in-law, Bea Fosmire; numerous nieces and nephews, family members and long-time friends.
Clyde was a native of Brooklyn, New York and lived the majority of his life in Savannah, Georgia. He served in the United States Army and spent his professional career as a Real Estate broker. He was an active member of The Exchange Club of Savannah. Clyde was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and after 52 years of sobriety helped countless others regain their lives. He loved traveling, golf, sun bathing at the beach, and spending time with his dogs, Zach and Jake.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00pm on Saturday February 3, 2018 at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Drive. Immediately following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at 1501 Eisenhower Drive.
Remembrances may be sent to the funeral home or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
