Cleveland A. Barefield, 90, of Savannah, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Wadley,Georgia.
He was born in Perkins, GA, on April 26, 1927, the son of the late Julian A. and Debbie Wiggins Barefield. He was raised by his grandmother, Lilly Drake Barefield, after the death of his mother at a very young age.
Cleve was a veteran, having served in the US Army, a 1950 graduate of the University of Georgia and was retired from Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals.
He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 65 years, where he was active in the Men's Club, and the Lucille Marshall Bible Class.
Cleve was preceded in death by his wife and the "love of his life" for 50 years, Julia Madalyne Manson Barefield.
He is survived by 2 sons, Marlon H. Barefield (Diane), and David J. Barefield (Connie), five grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie), Jay, Corey (Hannah),Callie (Zach) and Brian; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Addie and Emma.
Diane and Connie were very special to Cleve. They were more like daughters, than daughters-in-law to him. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy in his later years. Papa was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Lord, his family and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Visitation: 12 pm - 1 pm Friday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside Services: 2 pm Friday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
