Cleatis Harvey

Cleatis Harvey, age 97, of Port Wentworth, GA passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home.

A native of Savannah, GA; he was the son of Pratt Adams Harvey and Bessie Hall Harvey. 

Cleatis was a US Navy veteran having served during WWII and the Korean War; he served aboard the USS New Jersey and was a plank owner of the USS Brice Canyon. He was a member of the VFW post 322, The American Legion and First Baptist Church of Garden City. He retired after 38 years with Union Camp - International Paper Corporation. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 41 years, Doris Boykin Harvey and his second wife Vivian Rainey Harvey.

Survivors include his daughters, Janet Swindell (Roger) of Brunswick, GA, Sandra Gross of Marietta, GA; a sister, Gladys Youngblood of Garden City, GA, a brother, Herman Harvey (Nena) of Waycross, GA; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Wegman (Randall), Richard D. Martin, Jr., Crystal Gross, Amy Swindell Suiter (Corey), Lacie Richardson (Tony); a special nephew Richard Youngblood, Jr.; great grandchildren, Tyler Nunn (Meghan), Payton Nunn (Jeremy), Hunter Nunn (Jill), Austin Wegman, Harper, Finley, Karson, Brooklyn, Declan and Colton; great great grandchildren, Laurel, Gwen, Kagen, Kaiser, Hudson, Kenny and Kane.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Cleatis touched are invited to attend a visitation at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, on Friday, February 21st, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Cleatis's life will be held at 12:00 pm followed by a burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
