Clara Bell Plummer, 89, passed away peacefully with family on July 4, 2023. She was welcomed into heaven by the Lord and reunited with her beloved, Bill.
Clara was born August 24, 1933, in Blackshear, Georgia, the daughter of Johnnie Ervin Sweat & Clara Inez Brannen along with her Stepfather, Jesse James Brannen. She has one sister, Shirley Wilson.
Clara married Bill Plummer on December 1, 1950. They had two children, Jeannette Gantt and David Plummer. Clara and Bill were married 57 years. Clara, also known as Nanny, went on to be the grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 7, and great great grandmother of 3. Clara had a large and loving family with many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Clara can be most remembered for being wherever Bill was. Whether that was doing the books for his trucking company or being his first mate on the boat fishing. She loved having family over for a fish fry where everyone was always laughing and having a good time. Clara always made the best fried shrimp and crab stew. Clara also made a name for herself being a great seamstress and loved to garden.
Clara was cherished by her family, and she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clara was easy to talk to and always had a story that would make you smile.
She is survived by her children, Jeannette Gantt, David Plummer (Donna); her sister, Shirley Wilson; her sisters-in-law, Edna Yeakle, Virgie Plummer; and many nieces and nephews. Nanny is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Bert Davis (Melanie), Billy Davis (Gypsy), Jaime Plummer, Monica Plummer and Alex Gantt (Christina); her great grandchildren Stacie, Aleah, Savannah, Jacob, Will, Emma and Whitaker; and her great great grandchildren Finlee, Oaklee and Izaeah.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made in her honor to The Alzheimer’s Association.
