Christopher “Chris” Thuman Geiger (age 71) died peacefully on March 16, 2024, with his wife by his side.
Chris was born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He was known by many for his wit, his charm and his talents. Chris was the consummate gentleman, showing genuine concern and care for those around him. Even his prolonged illness was handled with his signature grace and bearing.
Chris pursued several business opportunities and occupations through the years. His final career was in the textile industry during which time he enjoyed many business trips throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Some of Chris’ favorite memories were of the time spent on his boat cruising the Long Island Sound and staying on moorings in Edgartown Harbor, Martha’s Vineyard. After his retirement, Chris and his wife moved to The Landings, Savannah, Georgia, where he enjoyed being surrounded by beautiful trees, marsh views, wildlife and his dear friends and family.
Chris had many talents but was particularly known for his woodworking skills. He treated his home as a canvas for his artistic creativity. Whether creating furniture or art pieces, each product stands in testament to his imagination and skill.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents Earl F. Geiger and Nancy Wyman Geiger. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Cathy, their cherished dog Ashley, his beloved brothers Bill (Lynn) and Peter (Donna) and sister Haynes Dooley, many nieces and nephews, several in-laws and his wife’s parents.
