Christopher Michael Banks, 51, of Garden City, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at his home.
A native of Savannah, Chris attended Cathedral Day School, Benedictine Military School, and was a graduate of Towson High in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church. Chris worked several years for Coastal Bath and Kitchen before they closed and was a carpenter who specialized in historical preservation.
Chris LOVED music and was known at many venues around Savannah. He was the first one in the door and the last one to leave. The light in a dark room, the smile in the shadows, the bear hug when you needed. He loved Grateful Dead, Turtle Folk, Charlie Fog, Jupiter Coyote, Bloodkin, Perpetual Groove, Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, Drivin N Cryin, Bonnie Blue, VooDoo Soup, and many others; they were the jams that carried his soul. He loved his tunes and his enormous music family that surrounded him. He was a proud Savanimal; they loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Ambrose, and a nephew, Jacob Stanfield.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Kelly Johnston Banks; their daughters, Morgan Elizabeth Banks, and Ashlyn Michelle Banks; his mother, Sandra Elliott Ambrose; his extended family the Langford's; sister-in-law, Honia Cobb (Charles); brother-in-law, Jody Johnston ( Catrina); niece, Mallory Simons (Mason), nephew, Jett Stanfield, nephew, Kole Johnston, niece, Gabrielle Johnston; other family and many many friends.

A service to Celebrate Chris’s life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Coach’s Corner, 3016 East Victory Drive, Savannah, GA 31404.
