Christine Grizzard Sams, 89, passed away at her home, Friday, May 20, under the care of Hospice Savannah after a long illness.
Mrs. Sams was a native Savannahian and before getting disabled, was an active member at Immanuel Baptist Church, Shriner's Flag Unit and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth E. "Shorty" Bowers and John W. Sams, Jr.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Smiley of Richmond Hill, GA, Mrs. Bernie Bonsignore of Port Charlotte, Fl and Mrs. Shannon Bowers Davis of Effingham County; three siblings, four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, Georgia, 31406.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, on Sunday, May 22 at Hillcrest Abbey - West, Dean Forest Road, Savannah, conducted by the Reverend Morgan D. Kerr.
