Join in the Celebration of the Life of Charles Edward Dixon, Sr. more lovingly referred to as “My Charlie, Dad, Grand Pa & Friend”.
Charlie was born October 30, 1934. His early years were spent in Savannah; Settling in Port Wentworth to raise his family. He eventually moved to Midway, retiring to the coast.
Charlie celebrated his career with International Paper, retiring after 41 years of dedicated service.
He loved Planting Hammock and was one of the original 12 residents on the island. He loved fishing and spending time with friends and family. Charlie enjoyed his annual GL/FL party in October and boasted that he had the largest birthday party on the island.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Vernie Dixon, Daughter, Donnette Redding (John), sons, Charles E. ‘Chuck’ Dixon, Jr. (Wendy), Phillip L. Dixon (Lona), Donald Kip Dixon, daughters by marriage, Joanie McLendon (Randy), Jan Ward, Jill Knight, several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, extended Family and Friends.
He is proceeded in death by Charlotte Dixon, loving mother of his children.
Visitation will be 10:00 am - 11:00 am Monday June 7, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel with the Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 am.
Remembrances are asked to be made to the Alee Shrine - Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, c/o Chuck Dixon, In loving honor of his father, Charles E. Dixon, Sr.,100 Eisenberg Drive, Savannah, GA 31406
Charlie love the Lord, lived a fulfilled life and is at peace in heaven. He will be missed.
