Charles "Charlie" Raymond Cole Sr., 89, of Tybee Island, GA passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 at Candler Hospital.
A native of Savannah, GA , he was the son of the late James Walter Cole, Sr. and Martha Grace Cope Cole.
Charlie was raised in Bloomingdale, GA and attended Chatham County Schools, graduating from Savannah High School. He served 10 years in the Air National Guard and was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 154, Tybee Island. During his military service, Charlie pursued a career as an electrician, and served in that capacity, until his retirement, from Union Camp, International Paper.
Mr. Cole was an avid collector of cars, motorcycles and many other things. He was well known for his mechanical skills. He was the owner of "Charlie's World" and remained athletic and active until his passing. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Sara Jane Cole; brothers, James Walter Cole, Jr. and Quinton Michael Cole; and a great grandson, Wesley Hollis.
Surviving are wife, Joyce Michell Colson Cole; children, Charles "Chuck" Raymond Cole, Jr., Cynthia "Cindy" Andrews (Charles), Nancy Cox; step-children, Charles Colson, Jr., Michell Schlappal (Tommy) and Jason Colson (Tiffany); grandchildren, Katie Faluotico (Marc), Candi York (Kasey), Kirby Cole (Emily), Chris Cole (Jill), Heather Anderson (Brad), Kenneth Andrews (Kim), Tiffani Hollis, Sara Owens, Sandra Griggs, Mandy Colson, Lindsay Colson, Tyler Harn (Brittney), Chloe Colson and Addi Colson; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and cousin, Joan Davis (Milt).
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel, from 5-7pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at the American Legion Post 154, 10 Veterans Drive, Tybee Island, GA from 11am-1pm.
