Charles J. Breitenbach, Jr. died October 29, 2017, under the care of Hospice at Azalealand Nursing Home. Charles was born on December 13, 1932 in Savannah, GA. He was predeceased by his Father, Charles J. Breitenbach, Sr. and his Mother, Heneritta M. Breitenbach, his sister, Anna B. Brinson and a niece, Cynthia Brinson Gall Wilson. Charles is survived by nephews, Charles Brinson and Johnathan Gall of Savannah and a cousin, Helen Breitenbach Morgan. Charles was a graduate of Savannah high School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for four years before being honorably discharged. After being discharged from the Navy he returned to Savannah and began a working career with Strachan Shipping Company. He worked for Strachan Shipping in a Management position for 37 years before retiring. His interest included gardening, especially that of growing orchards. He was a lover of animals. His last dog, Matilda, being his favorite. Upon retiring he traveled extensively, frequently to Hawaii and the Yucatan. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Wilmington Island. He was formally active in the order of the Elks and for many years in the German friendly Society and the Savannah Orchid Society. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday November 2nd, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.v
