Charlene Anderson Balmer, age 75, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Mrs. Balmer was born on May 21, 1947 in Savannah, GA, the daughter of the late Charles B. and Ruth Smith Anderson. She was a graduate of Albany High School and continued her formal education at Valdosta State University. She worked as a catastrophic case manager for many years and was the owner of Cat Case Management. She was a member of The Church at Godley Station and the Savannah-Navy League. She was also a member of Savannah Chapter #52, Order of the Eastern Star and Georgia Court #1, Order of the Amaranth where she was a Past Royal Matron. She and her husband, Steve served as house parents for the Masonic Home of Georgia in the 1990's. Charlene was an avid reader and loved shopping.
Mrs. Balmer was preceded in death by her loving husband of 20 years, Walter Stephen Balmer and her brother, Wade Anderson. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Teresa Nicely (Elmar) and Jenny Clements (Troy); brothers, Bruce Anderson and Lee Anderson; grandchildren, Kristen and Stephen; and nieces, Victoria Anderson Hargrove and Taylor Anderson.
A memorial service and Amaranth funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
