Catherine Stanley McCabe, 93, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Azalealand Nursing Home. She was born in Tennessee to the late Adelaide and Jessie Stanley.
Catherine joined the Women's Army Corps in 1945. In 1946, she married a handsome young pilot from Pennsylvania and assumed the role of dedicated military wife. In 1949, she accompanied her husband on assignment duty as an air attaché in Seoul, Korea as part of the Korean Military Advisory Group. They left Korea in 1950 when the war broke out. After two tours to Japan and multiple stateside relocations, they returned to Savannah after his retirement.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, Albert B. McCabe, and her sister, Frances Jurgens. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Woods (Grady) of Savannah, and granddaughter, Rachel Autin (David) of Macon.
Visitation: 5 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home - Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside Service: 11 am on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Bonaventure Cemetery.
