Carrie Ann Macaluso, age 67, of Savannah passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Mrs. Macaluso was born on November 6, 1956 in Columbia, South Carolina to William Brimberry and the late Maryann Stone Brimberry. Carrie graduated from Nova High School in Sunrise, Florida and attended Auburn University and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Attending FIT brought her to NYC’s garment industry where she met her husband Salvatore Macaluso and launched a career as a fashion designer. Carrie started C.A. Brimberry Originals, dying her own fabric and creating her own designs, until her son William was born in 1986. Sal and Carrie moved to Long Island where they had two more children, Lauren and Michael, and attended a church in Franklin Square where they grew some of their closest friendships for close to 20 years. Their move to Loganville, GA in 2007 brought Carrie closer to her sisters and father where she enjoyed holidays and visits much more frequently. She also established a Soup Night ministry out of Highlands ARP Church. Alongside her friend, Jane Statham, and many volunteers Carrie fed hundreds of food insecure people over 10 years. Carrie continued to prove her artistry through her business painting shoes, which many of her friends and family still love to show off. Her last months were spent traveling to Hawaii and Paris with her beloved Sal and spending the summer with her children and grandchildren at Knoebles Grove.
Carrie is survived by her husband Salvatore Macaluso, her son Will Macaluso, her son Michael Macaluso & daughter-in-law Kacey Beltz Macaluso, her daughter Lauren Popp & son-in-law Cory Popp, her grandchildren Juniper and Mira Popp, her sisters Julie Vogt and Nancy Hand, and her father William Brimberry.
A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Anglican Savannah.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Let ‘Em Eat, an organization near and dear to Carrie’s heart and her earthly ministry:
