Carolyn D. Thompson, 84, of Garden City, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by her family at Memorial Medical Center.
A native of Eden, Georgia, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel J. Dasher and the late Mearl G. Dasher.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Carolyn’s life was a testament to love and service. She had a passion for sewing and cross-stitching, and her dedication to volunteering with numerous organizations left an indelible mark on countless lives. Over the years, Carolyn lovingly created quilts, health kits, and gifts that brought joy and comfort to many, leaving behind precious memories cherished by all who knew her. Her sharp wit, boundless kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends were hallmarks of her remarkable life.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years Allen Thompson, daughter and son-in-law, Fran Powell and Derik Gillett, son Aver Thompson, daughter Bonnie Johnson, her grandchildren that affectionately called her “Mema”, Christopher & Ashley, Matthew & Jenny, Garrett, Megan & Matt, Grace, Jeremiah, great-grands Lindsey, Landen, Carter, Savannah, Barrett, Jedediah, Baker, Benjamin, Beckett, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 2794 Highway 80 West, Garden City, GA.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 41 Main Street, Garden City, GA, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Savannah, GA.
Pallbearers for the service will be Christopher Powell, Matthew Powell, Garrett Powell, Jeremiah Johnson, Landen Powell, and Carter Powell.
