Carolyn Zipperer Sammons, age 80, of Savannah passed away Sunday, August, 14, 2022.
Carolyn was born to the parents of O.H. and Essie Mackey Zipperer, August, 3, 1942. Carolyn attended Jenkins High School and graduated in the 1960. She went on to work as a medical receptionist at Savannah Pediatrics until she later retired. Carolyn was always happy and had a big smile on her face for everyone. She was well known for being late, the one and only time her and the children ever arrived early for church was because she forgot about daylight savings. She loved her family and was very close with her sisters. Carolyn was selfless, she would drop everything she was doing to help another. She was a long standing former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and also Coastal Cathedral. In her younger years she enjoyed singing in the choir, bowling, and yard work.
She is preceded in death by her parents, O.H. Zipperer and Essie Mackey Zipperer.
She is survived by her children, Larry Jack Sammons, Rick Alan Sammons (Hollie), Marsha Dale Jividen, Jodi Lynn Graham; her five sisters, Barbara Edwards, Linda Brown, Jean Calhoun (Gary), Rheta Garrison, Nancy Gale (Bobby); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, John Summerville.
The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Chapel with Reverend Bobby Gale officiating. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
