Carolyn S. Cochran

February 5, 1943 — December 18, 2020

Carolyn S. Cochran was born on February 5, 1943 to Rufus and Daisy (Pauline) Jones in McIntyre, GA and departed this life at Memorial Health University in Savannah, GA on December 18, 2020 after a brief illness.

Carolyn graduated from Wilkinson County High School in Irwinton, GA. She married Willie J. (William) Cochran on October 26, 1965 in Ridgeland, SC. Carolyn devoted her career to working with children in the Savannah Chatham Public School System and spent over 22 years making an impactful, lasting impression on many of her students. She made the difficult choice to take early retirement in 2006 to provide care for her ailing mother.

Carolyn faithfully committed her life to serving the Lord and was an active member of Bible Baptist Church of Savannah.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, William, who attentively walked alongside her for more than 55 years. She will be missed tremendously by their children, Timothy J. Cochran (Sonya) of Savannah, Jeffrey B. Cochran of Savannah, Robert K. Cochran (Gina) of Rincon, GA and Paula M. Cochran (Billy White) of Savannah. Carolyn cherished her grandchildren, Courtney Brannan (Travis) of Bloomingdale, GA and Kyle J. Cochran (Sarah Lanier, fiancée) of Savannah. Carolyn was also blessed with one great grandchild, Tessa L. Brannan.

Carolyn also leaves behind her sisters, Louise Williams (Pete) of Irwinton, GA and Ruth Roberts (Thomas) of Milledgeville, GA, and brothers, Larry Jones (Edwina) of Toomsboro, David Jones (June) of Toomsboro and Reverend Bobby Jones (Margie) of Dublin, GA. Carolyn’s brother, Harvey Bruce Jones, and parents preceded her in death. Carolyn will also be affectionately remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and both her church and school circle of friends.

Carolyn’s loved ones can recall every precious moment spent with her ended with a spoken “I love you” that all will treasure forever.

Because the family wishes to adhere to COVID safety precautions, a service at Bible Baptist Church and burial at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah will be private. Baker McCullough Funeral Home of Savannah will be overseeing arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a donation to a meaningful cause such as the Masters Class of Bible Baptist Church of Savannah.
