Carol Ruth Hinely Shupe, age 84, of Savannah went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Mrs. Shupe, a native of Savannah was born on August 11, 1939, the daughter of the late Eunice Shearouse Hinely and Jasper D. “J.D.” Hinely. She was a 1957 graduate of Savannah High School and continued her formal education at Armstrong Junior College. She began her career working as a secretary with Blue Cross Blue Shield and later worked with Sears, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was active with the Good Neighbors Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Carol loved writing cards to friends and family, always including a handwritten note.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shupe was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Hodge; brother-in-law, Marion Hodge; son-in-law, Fred Austin Miles; and grandson, Matthew Prussia. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jimmy L. Shupe; daughters, LeeAnn Miles Thacker (Walter) and Becky Prussia (John); grandchildren, Laura Miles Simmons (Robbie), David Prussia (Meghan), Daniel Prussia (Linda), and Joshua Prussia; and great grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel, Caleb, Luke, Charlotte, Marilee, as well as two great grandchildren who are expected soon.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
