Carol Elaine Davis, 78, of Savannah passed away February 9, 2021 at Candler Hospital due to complications from COVID.
She was born June 7, 1942 to Harold Jacob Devies and Lillian Maude (Peck) Devies in Albion, Pennsylvania.
She moved to Savannah, where she met William Francis Davis. The two were married March 12, 1971.
Mrs. Davis was employed for many years with Savannah Bank and Trust. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for several years. She was proud of her husband and family members' service to their country and was a part of many veterans organizations that included the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary Unit 596, American Legion Auxiliary post 135, Association of Vietnam Veterans of America Georgia Chapter 671, Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary Savannah #8, and Savannah Elks Lodge #183.
She dearly loved her family both in the south and up north, remaining close to them all through the years. She enjoyed shopping with her friends, especially for her grandchildren, traveling with her husband before his passing, caring for the neighborhood birds and cultivating her favorite flowers.
Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, William Francis Davis; and brothers, Charles and Ronald Devies, and Robert and James Knapp.
Surviving are four daughters and sons in law, Sherrie (Dave) Collins, Pamela (Stephen) Helmly, Terri (Ernest) Keldie, and Janet (Brian) Kelly; grandchildren, Tyler Collins, Erin Collins, Stephen Helmly, Jr., Joshua Collins, Nolan Helmly, Ian Helmly, Lily Helmly, Hannah Keldie, Nicholas Keldie, Luke Collins, and Amelia Keldie; great grandchildren, Sam Collins and Corey Collins; and siblings, Roberta Fausnaught, William Devies, Dawn Knapp Hall, Linda Altman, William Knapp, Joyce Sherman, Janice Henretty, and Edward Knapp.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 15, from 11am until 12pm with the funeral service to follow at noon in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Drew Humphries officiating. A private interment will be at Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville.
The service will be live-streamed using the link that will be provided the day of the service.
The family respectfully requests that all who attend follow social distancing guidelines and wear facial coverings, especially given the sensitive nature of her death.
