Carla L. Thomas, 76, of Pooler, Georgia died Saturday, May 29, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.She was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, and Nana.
Carla was born in Monticello, Illinois to the late Everett A. Asherman and the late Kathryn Anne Asherman. Raised in Indiana, Carla attended Burris High School in Muncie, Indiana. As a freshman at Ball State University, Carla was named Home Coming Queen and Chi Omega Pledge Class Presidentin 1963.
Carla’s career flourished as a Public Relations professional for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in the 1990s. In this role, Carla became the primary liaison between Pfizer and the International Olympic Committee's Medical Commission. Her responsibilities included the management of events at the Olympics in Norway, Australia, Japan, and Atlanta as well as meetings for the IOC Medical Commission in France, Germany, Italy, Monaco and Switzerland.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, T.L. (Tom) Thomas, children, Geoff Thomas and his wife, Amyof Cincinnati, Ohio; Ashley Thomas of Pooler Georgia; grandchildren, Jack, Ella, and Joey Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sophie Rose Thomas of Pooler, Georgia and siblings, Kendra Tuma of Pooler, Georgia and PhilAsherman and his wife Ellen of The Woodlands, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday June 2, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Savannah and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Savannah for the wonderful care that they provided.
