Calvin Ronal Futch

Calvin Ronal Futch, age 83, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Hospice of Savannah.

He was born on November 25, 1940 in Evans County, Georgia along with his twin brother Alvin to Charlie and Mildred Futch. Calvin was a 1959 graduate of Bryan County High School in Pembroke, Georgia. After graduation, he was employed at Pembroke Manufacturing Company in Pembroke. In 1966, Calvin joined the United States Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After serving his country, he worked at Great Dane Trailers in Savannah until his retirement. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Savannah.

Calvin enjoyed being outdoors. He was considered to be the neighborhood landscaper. For his neighbors in need, he would make sure their grass got cut and that they were taken care of. He enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, completing word search puzzles, and loved spending time with his family; especially his three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Earl Carson; his sister, Jane Bacon; and his brother, Charles E. Futch.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Gail Hardigree Futch; two daughters, Jamie Dykes (Jason) of Pooler, Georgia, and Allison Bowen (Anthony) of Pooler, Georgia; a son, Brian (Deirdre) Green of Statesboro, Georgia; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dykes, Trey Bowen, and Ashton Bowen of Pooler, Georgia; his twin brother, Alvin Futch (Gwen) of Pembroke, Georgia; sisters, Helen Dickerson of Bulloch County, Janet DuBois (Gary) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Brenda Farmer (Chuck) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; Wanda Kangeter (Thomas) of Thunderbolt, Georgia; Charlene Butler (Randall) of Pembroke, Georgia, Vicki Hughes (Pat) of Pembroke, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to Doctor Grant Lewis and his staff at Nancy W. and J.C. Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion for their excellent care over the past few years.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Savannah, Georgia 31406.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 in the Hodgson Memorial Chapel at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive.

Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in honor of Calvin be made to Central Christian Church, 6810 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Georgia 31406
