Buford L. Coley, 85, 0f Savannah passed away on December 13, 2019 after a short illness. The native of Lindale, Georgia was one of five sons born to Lester L. and Mary Dell Coley. Born on June 26, 1934, Buford graduated from Pepperell High School in 1953, and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served 20 years as a bombing/navigation specialist on B-36, B-47, and B-52 aircraft.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1974, Buford settled in Savannah and began a career with the United States Postal Service. After 22 years, he retired from USPS in 1996.
Buford was a communicant and member of The Sanctuary Independent Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dana Higginbotham, his parents, and his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Nell Coley.
He is survived by his former wife Barbara Ann Frawley Coley, his brothers Robert (R.H.) (Susan), Alan (Nancy), and Tony (Belinda), his grandchildren Robert and Kayla Higginbotham, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 12-2 PM Saturday December 28 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Burial will be private.
