Brenda Goodman White, age 84, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Brenda was born in Nashville, Tennessee to the parents of Katherine and Richard Goodman. Brenda attended and graduated from Edison High School in Miami, Florida. In 1957, Brenda met the love of her life by chance when a group of her friends decided to go on blind dates. James White took an interest in Ms. Brenda (not his blind date, but the blind date of his buddy) and the two wed on Homestead AFB just before he joined the Army. Ms. Brenda filled multiple roles as a military officer's wife, a devoted mother, and worked in and out of the home. As a military wife, Brenda worked for AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange System) and was very active in the Military Officers’ Wives Club. Brenda later served as administrative assistant to several executive level professors at Armstrong State College, (now Georgia Southern University). After 22 years of service to the University System of Georgia, she retired in 2001.
Brenda's personality was vivacious and her smile was contagious. She was such a sweet, kind, and compassionate woman. She often reminded others that you never know what other people are going through and to always love and be kind to others. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She took pride in maintaining her home and taking care of her family. Brenda would move mountains in order to attend her grandchildren's events in Naples, Florida. Brenda and her husband also enjoyed family vacations with their children and grandchildren.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband, James “Toby” White; her parents, Katherine and Richard Goodman; and her brother, Richard Goodman Jr.
She is survived by her two children, Shirley Bolch (Eddie) of Savannah, Georgia; Robert White (Sandra) of Naples, Florida; two grandchildren, Trevor White (Raechel) of Tampa, Florida, and Sophia White of Naples, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
