Brenda Sellers Wilbanks, age 60, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 after a courageous two year battle with lung cancer, and that taught her family the depth of her love and the will to survive, at her home with her beloved husband at her side.
Brenda was born in Savannah on January 10, 1952 to Earl Sellers, who survives of Bloomingdale, GA and the late Vera Jones Sellers. She attended Savannah High School and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and youth choir there. She moved to Central Florida with her mother in 1969 and graduated from Lyman H.S class of 1970. She lived her married life in the Orlando/Winter Park area. Brenda was a banking and mortgage industry professional, and a licensed mortgage broker. Brenda cherished her family and the time spent with her twin grandsons. Her family was her purpose in life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and preceded in death by her grandmother Mildred Jones and her mother Vera Jones Sellers both of Savannah. She recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with her husband William "Bill" Wilbanks.
Survivors in addition to her husband, William "Bill" Wilbanks; a daughter and son-in law, Laura Wilbanks Read and husband Robert; and twin grandsons, Logan and Conner both of Orlando; her father, Earl Sellers; a brother, Louis Sellers of Port Orange; a sister, Sharon Sellers of Pooler, GA and her extended family in GA, AL, NC and SC. The family would like to offer their special thanks to Dr. Tarek Mekhail, medical director, Florida Hospital Cancer Institute in Orlando and his entire staff for their warmth and remarkable care of Brenda during her battle the last two years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Aloma Church, 1815 S.R. 436, Winter Park, FL 32792.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Bonaventure Funeral Home with Rev. George Wilds officiating. Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery with Earl Sellers, Louis Sellers, Jr., Robert Mahr, Gary Miles, Randy Booras and Jimmy Barker serving as pallbearers.
