Billy Hendrix, age 86, of Savannah, died Friday, March 14, 2025 at Candler Hospital in Savannah. Billy was born on November 6, 1938 in Portal to Lyman Hall Hendrix and Bertie Finch Hendrix and lived in Savannah all his life. He was a graduate from Portal High School and retired from TV Center after 20 years. Billy was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and attended Grace Church of Savannah, where he was very active and involved with the churches. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards, and going to Sunnyside Up for breakfast every morning, previously going to Larry's when it was open. Billy loved watching baseball and football, he was an avid Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves and a Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was a much beloved uncle, brother, son and friend. Billy was very dependable and helpful, was devoted to his church and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Evelyn Mulling and Christine Yager; and brothers, Darvie Hendrix, Doyce Hendrix, Demps Hendrix, Rupert Hendrix, Rastus Hendrix, and Buford Hendrix.
His family includes several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, friends and a very special friend, Artie Nelson.
The family will receive friends at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.) on Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00. The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, March 19, 2025 at Grace Church of Savannah at 11:00 with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hendrix Family Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 2025 at 3:00.
