Billy “Butch” Eugene Hensley, age 70, passed away after a short illness on Thursday September 29, 2022 at St. Joseph / Candler Hospital.
Mr. Hensley was born September 15, 1952 in Eden, North Carolina to the late Billy Ray Hensley and the late Ruby Nell Hensley. Butch was the biggest Georgia Bulldog fan. He loved his family and the love of his life, Kay, who he was married to for 51 years. Butch never meet a stranger and was loved by many. He was a regional sales manager with Polaris until his retirement in 2019.
Billy “Butch” graduated from Savannah High School in 1971 were he was involved with ROTC and loved working at Kelly’s while in high school. He was a mason and a member of Thunderbolt Lodge #693. He became the Master of his lodge at the age of 28. He was a member of the Alee shrine Temple where he was involved in the Mobile Unit and Patrol.
He is survived by his wife Kay (Tucker); daughter, Karen Anderson (Chad); grandsons, Kolby and Kendall; sister, Linda Myers (Jerry); brothers, Kenneth Hensley (Debbie) and John Hensley; brother in law, Jimmy Tucker (Beth); nieces, Christina Causey, Brooke Bates (Jesse), and Ashley Rash (Chris); nephew, William Payne; great-nephews, great nieces, many cousins and his faithful companion Rudy.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday October 6, 2022 at 11am in the Chapel of the funeral home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers remembrance may be given to the Shriners Children’s’ Hospital of Greenville South Carolina c/o Alee Temple, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605 or Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.
