Beverley Cratty McCraw, age 62, of Savannah passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family after a six- year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Beverley was born on June 14, 1958 in Anchorage, AK. She was a 1976 graduate of Effingham County High School and continued her formal education at Armstrong State College, ultimately earning her BS degree in Nursing. She began her career working with Memorial Medical Center, later with the American Red Cross and the Special Care Nursery at Candler Hospital. She was a Certified Lactation Consultant and worked in lactation with the Teens and Tots Program. For the last 23 years she worked with Memorial Medical Center and passionately served in the Neonatal Unit where she touched the lives of many families. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers in the Neonatal Unit, who she loved dearly and who supported her like family.
She was a former member of Trinity Bible Church and Providence Presbyterian Church, but for the last 16 years was a faithful member of Ferguson Avenue Baptist Church.Over the years she was blessed with fostering 43 children and adopted 2 of her foster children. In 2002 she was awarded the Service to Children Award by Chatham County DFACS in recognition for her work with foster and adopted children.
She enjoyed Scottish heritage and was a talented kiltmaker. She looked forward to attending Braemar Summer School of Kiltmaking in Troy, NY where she made many close friends. She regularly attended various Scottish Games across the SE to watch her granddaughter dance and loved visiting Walt Disney World with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, having been to Scotland 3 times and to 4 different continents.
Beverley was preceded in death by her mother, Beverley Cadden Cratty. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Dean McCraw; daughters, Lauren McCraw and Lindsey McInish (Scott); sons, Jared McCraw and Joseph “Grudder” McCraw; grandchildren, Laurel McCraw and Everly McInish; father, Robert Colson Cratty; stepmother Wanda Cratty; 4 sisters; 3 brothers and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 1, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Temple, 4625 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404.
A graveside funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Whitaker Moore Cemetery in Mills River, NC.
