Betty Jean Sheppard

Betty Jean Sheppard, age 100, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Mrs. Sheppard was born on February 12, 1923, in Hampton, South Carolina to the late Thomas Asberry Jarrell and the late Lena Woods Jarrell. She was a retired bookkeeper from Corps of Engineer and a longtime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was active in social and charterable organizations and made good friends through the Savannah area and beyond. Mrs. Sheppard was passionate about the Alee Temple Shrines Lady's Auxiliary Club. She enjoyed travel abroad and a good Martini. She will be missed greatly by her close family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert McGinnis; sister, Margie Winn; and brother, Tom Jarrell.

Survivors include her nieces, Kathy Dickinson and Paula Melton; and nephew, Gary Stokes. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East (1600 Wheaton St. Savannah, GA 31404).

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
