Betty Jean Mitchell Scott, of Savannah, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, March 26.
She was born on September 14, 1922 to Grady and Ethel Mitchell in Chattanooga, TN and was raised in Selma, AL. She attended Alabama College for Women when she met the love of her life, Kenneth J. Scott, Jr., on a blind date in February 1944. She and "Scotty" were married when he returned from World War II on November 17, 1945.
She was a dedicated, loving and supportive Air Force military wife for the next 72 years.
She and Scotty traveled extensively during their years together before retiring to Savannah about 30 years ago.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Grady "Bud" Mitchell, Jr, who died serving his country in the Korean Conflict.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Scott, Jr.; several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who showed her love and compassion for the last several years.
Services: Chapel at the Mighty Eighth Museum, Thursday, March 30 at 11am. Interment will be in the Screven Memorial Cemetery in Sylvania, GA.
