Barbara Ann Sharpe, 78, of 36 Davidson Avenue in Savannah, GA, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
A native of Savannah, Barbara was the daughter of Benjamin Dutton and Claudia Bryant. She spent several years residing in New Jersey, where she worked as a dedicated Registered Nurse for 22 years. After retiring from nursing, Barbara continued to expand her knowledge by returning to college. She later enjoyed a brief but rewarding stint working at a law firm. Following her time in New Jersey, Barbara returned to her beloved hometown of Savannah, carrying with her the compassion and commitment to caring for others that had defined her career.
Despite her many professional accomplishments, Barbara considered her greatest purpose in life to be sharing her faith. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she found immense joy and fulfillment in spreading the message of hope and comfort to others, including having the privilege of serving as a Regular Pioneer for two years. Barbara was known for her persistent positivity and resilience, never complaining even in the face of life's challenges. She remained steadfast in her belief that Jehovah God valued her deeply, and she held firm in her confidence that she would see her loved ones again in a world free from strife, where perfect health would be restored to all. Her kindness, spiritual conviction, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Dutton; her mother, Claudia Bryant; and her daughter, Valerie Howell.
She is survived by her loving spouse, Trevor Sharpe of Savannah, GA; her sons, Oren Ramon Howell and Duranie Sharpe; her granddaughters, Nickel Howell and Trinity Danate Howell; her brothers, Cardell Bryant, Charles Dutton, and Marin Dutton; her sister, Annette Dutton; her aunt, Mary Hendricks; her nieces, Nikesha and Frachon; her nephews, Cardell Bryant Jr., Herbert Dutton, and Bevin Dutton; and her cousins, Mary, Deloris Johnson, Barbara Antony, Lallie, Willie, Ralf, Jonny, Anny, Jobe, Trusan, and Ell (Ponder), as well as a host of other family members and friends too numerous to mention.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2605 Carmel Avenue, Savannah, GA 31406.
