Avis Geraldine "Geri" Jeter Arms

Avis Geraldine Jeter Arms, 94, was called to her heavenly home on July 26, 2022.

A native of Greenville County, SC, she was born July 24, 1928, to Lella Mae Roberts Jeter and Ernest Linwood Jeter.

On September 21, 1946, she married the love of her life, and they raised a son and three daughters. After her husband answered the Lord’s call to ministry in 1952, she served faithfully with him at churches in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. She also served as organist at churches in Johnson City, Tennessee and Savannah, Georgia. In 1992, she and her husband were commissioned as Chaplains by the Georgia Baptist Convention.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Rev. J. Cohen Arms; son, Gary C. Arms; sisters, Juanita and Betty; brothers, Hayward, Reed, Leon, and Ed.

She is survived by daughters, Gail (David) Cribbs of Fayetteville, GA; Cathy (Elmar) von Kurzbach of Folkston, GA, and Ruth Linton of Warner Robins, GA; daughter-in-law, Linda C. Arms of South Guyton, GA; sister, Eloise J. Hawkins of Taylors, SC; brother-in-law, Marshall (Joan) Arms of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Marlene Whitmire of Greer, SC; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The life of Mrs. Arms will be celebrated Sunday, July 31, 2022. The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 1 pm, followed by the service at 1 pm in the Chapel of Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West, 1336 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, GA.
