Avis Altine Foskey Burke

Avis Altine Foskey Burke, age 97, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Silver Treasures Assisted Living in Jacksonville, FL. She was a longtime resident of Hardeeville, SC.
Mrs. Burke was born on September 23, 1922 in Uvalda, GA, the daughter of the late James Arthur and Lennie Smith Foskey. She was a World War II Veteran of the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged as Seaman Second Class. She was a member of Port Wentworth United Methodist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Beaufort Squares.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 70 years, Cecil Thomas Burke; daughter, Tommie Ann Moore; and brothers, Milton and Dorman (Dank) Foskey. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Moses (Preston) and Panda Burke (Alex); grandson, Craig Scott (Mandy); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Devin, Hunter, and Kinsley; and brother, Bernard Foskey (Carolyn).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, 1688 Currie Road, Uvalda, GA 30473. Visitation will follow the service in the church social hall.
She was loved by many people and she loved them in return.
