Audrey Clanton Long, a native of Savannah, Georgia, passed away after a short illness on the 10th of October, 2012, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thad D. Long, of Estill, SC; her parents Emmett Simmie and Mertie Clanton of Savannah, GA; and one older brother, Ervin Clanton. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Alex Mallis of Cumming, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. T. Deward & Rochelle Long of Athens, GA; her son Ray M. Long of Woodstock, GA; and her son and daughter-in-law Sterling L. and Dr. Kathy Chu Long.
Her loving family members also include her nine grandchildren (Andrew Mallis, Nicholas Mallis, Jason Long, Dr. Blaire Long, Meaghan Long, Dr. Joey Long Fraser & her husband Will, Corey Long & his wife Sabrina and their daughter Bailey, Samantha Long and Ashley Long); her beautiful sisters Leona Clement of Athens, GA, and Myrtle Patterson of Savannah, GA: her loving brothers and sister-in-laws Bobby & LaVerne Clanton and Simmie & Shirley Clanton of Savannah, GA; her sister-in-laws Mrs. Fae Long Fox of Hickory, NC, and Mrs. Mae Long Ostwalt of Greensboro, NC.; as well as, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Audrey had worked for many years at Memorial Hospital in Savannah as an EKG Technician and in the office of the nursing department. She and her husband retired to the Lake George community in Midway, GA, where she lived near her sisters until her move to Roswell, GA, in 2005 and then she settled in Cumming, GA, in 2011.
She will be deeply missed but warmly and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Visitation with family will be 1:00pm on Saturday, October 13th, at Bonaventure Funeral Home, 2520 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, GA. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel at 2:00pm followed by the interment in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
