Arthur David Ruff, 70, of Riceboro, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Liberty Regional Medical Center. He was born October 8, 1947 in Columbia, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Victoria Ruff (Mingledorff), his two sons, Ernie and Kenny Ireland, of Rincon, GA, daughter-in-law Brandy Ireland of Savannah, Ga, his grandchildren, Jordanna Ireland, Kenneth Ireland Jr., Skyler Oliver, Brianna Ireland, Kason Ireland, and Ansley Horn. He is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother, Gwen Barefoot of South Carolina, Carolyn Miller of South Carolina, Lydia Pope of North Carolina, and brother, Ervin Ruff (Sylvia) of South Carolina. He is also survived by several brother and sister in-laws, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, James Daniel Ruff and Shirley Green, as well as his daughter-in-law, Carrie Williams.
David was well known for his tedious work ethic. After serving 4 years in the US Navy, where he received two purple hearts, he was honorably discharged in 1971. He then became an electrician and continued in this kind of work for over 40 years. Before his death he was employed by Braddy Electric in Savannah, GA where he worked 6 day weeks and never missed a day. In all his time working in the electrical profession, he acquired many many friends. Anyone who knew him knew he had a kind heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
