GARDEN CITY

Arlie Jefferson (Jeff) Hartley, Jr., 90, died July 28, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.  Born in Savannah October 24, 1927, to the late Arlie J. Hartley, Sr. and Hazel Crosby Hartley, and lived in Garden City since 1931.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Hartley.  Jeff was a charter member of Chapel-in-the-Gardens Presbyterian Church, PCA, Garden City, GA, where he had served as a former Sunday school superintendent and teacher, deacon and elder.

Graduated from Savannah High School in 1947. Retired from Union Camp Corporation after 43 years as a machinist and affectionately called "Pee-Wee" by his co-workers.  Jeff was one of the first volunteer firemen of the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department and served many years as a volunteer fireman.  He was a member of Hamilton Ridge and Brunson, SC hunting clubs and was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and "fixer" of all things.

Survivors include his wife of 71½ years Ann Clark Hartley, sons Walter C. Hartley and Jeffrey C. Hartley both of Garden City; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and brother, Thomas E. (Buddy) Hartley (Harriet) of Garden City.

Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday July 31, 2018 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Garden City Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday 11:00 am August 1, 2018 at Chapel in the Garden Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daren Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.
