Anthony Harold Futch

January 26, 1960 — January 2, 2023

Anthony “Tony” Harold Futch, aged 62 of Chatham County, passed on, Monday, January 2nd, 2023, in his home on Louis Mills Blvd.

He is survived by; his Mother, Fannie “Nell” Futch; Son, Christopher “Chris” Leon Futch (Misty Futch), two grandsons; Christopher Dru Futch and Carter Reid Futch; and Son, Anthony “Tyler” Futch (Mechele Futch). As one of eight siblings, he leaves behind; Sister, Suzanne Daniel (Jimmy Daniel), Brother, William “Billy” Demsey Chambers, Brother, John “David” Chambers (Debbie Chambers), Sister, Ellie Marie Bacon (Ronnie Bacon) and Sister, Julia Kaye Chambers. Tony is preceded in Death by his Father, Ernest Harold Futch, Brother, “Ray” Edward Chambers, and Brother, Robert Clarence “Bubba” Chambers. Tony leaves behind a Cousin, Nieces and Nephews, bonus nieces and nephews in that, “there are so many now, we have lost count!” jokes his Mother, Nell Futch.

Tony is described as proud, witty, comical, a jokester, mischievous, rambunctious, a bit wild, tough exterior, and a “lady killer”. He was a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, and a friend. He was someone that if anyone from ACL Blvd to Louis Mills Blvd or Beverly Street, asked for help, he would do all he could, however and whenever. Tony was referred to as generous with his time if someone was in need.

As a child, “Toby Tyler”, Tony was described as, “just plain ole mean” with a smile by his siblings. From roughing with his brother(s) to stealing the bible to burying toys; just to annoy his sisters, always the jokester and the typical little brother. Tony loved cars, rock and roll and racing, at least until he “blew the motor!” , joked his brother, David. The sound of chuckles by his sons, they agreed.

Tony was a proud father and his son, Chris was his doppelganger as a little boy. Tony had many catchphrases but his son, Chris, fondly remembers, “Don’t tell your mama!” Tony loved the Atlanta Falcons but “only if they win!” “I can get a team off the street and win!” he would yell, when they didn’t. One of his fondest memories was when he and his son, Tyler attended a game in 2012, The Falcons versus The Oakland Raiders, they pulled off the win! No need to gather the “street team.”

He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed going fishing when he could and loved caring for the pups, either in his back yard or down the street. He could be found sitting or even dancing around a fire pit with close loved ones. He leaves behind 4 scruffy, “Heinz 57” mutts.

Tony was said to be a man who would always tell it to you straight and at times you would hear him say, “Look it here sport.” The front porch on Louis Mills Blvd was a place you could often find Tony in his rocking chair and you could always bet to hear a story or an opinion if you walked up and sat in the other.

For many years and up to his death, he resided at the home on Louis Mills Blvd with his mother and for close to three years had been her caregiver. On any given day or at any given hour, you could place a bet, that you would hear him say, “ I got this Mom!” or “ I got this Marie!” So much so, Marie, his sister, wanted to make him a T-Shirt.

“Mom, whatcha want....?” “Mom, whatcha need...?” selfless questions, Tony asked daily, hourly, and at times, within the same 15 minutes. But, if you knew Anthony “Tony” Harold Futch, the one thing, for certain, was his love for his Mom.

Tony will be deeply missed, often talked about in stories, by “many a friends and loved ones” and his family.

The Family will be holding a Memorial in honor of Anthony “Tony” Harold Futch, at 2130 Louis Mills Blvd, Savannah, GA, 31405 on Sunday, January 15th, 2023, from 1pm to 3pm. The Family has asked for NO covered dishes. The Family has asked that you simply bring yourself and your stories.
