Anthony C. "Tony" Mesaros

Anthony C. “Tony” Mesaros, age 78, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, surrounded by his wife and sons.
Tony was born in Savannah on September 24, 1942, the son of the late Madeline and Anthony C. Mesaros. He was a 1960 graduate of Savannah High School and continued his formal education at the University of Georgia, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Mathematics. During high school and college, he was active in ROTC. He was a graduate of the United States Army Airborne school. He was a Vietnam War Veteran of the United States Army serving with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and was honorably discharged as Captain. Following his military tenure, he practiced as a Numismatist and business owner in Savannah for many years. Tony attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, was on the Board of Directors of Peach State Public Radio, volunteered with the Night in Old Savannah, and was active with the SABL (Savannah Adult Baseball League).
Tony is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Catherine Collins Mesaros; sons, John Mesaros (Dee Dee), Michael Mesaros (Nichole), David Mesaros (Stephanie), and Daniel Mesaros (Patricia); brother, George W. Mesaros (Sylvia); sisters, Evann Sines (Paul) and Mary Redmond (Mike); 10 grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Mallory, Madeline, Emma, Maggie, Myles, Reid, Eli, and Iain; and 2 great-grandchildren, Magnus and Edith.
Family will be receiving guests 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A family funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
Burial will follow the funeral service at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
