Annie Brooks Kent, age 94, of Savannah passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021.
Ann was born on March 10, 1927 in Griffin, GA to mother Bertha Allison Pritchard and father Homer Brooks.
She grew up in Griffin, GA and moved to Savannah as a teenager working at southeastern shipyard during WWII as a class II welder. As an adult, she served as an active member of the local community, running a popular shoe store on Savannah’s Southside. Ann was both a devoted wife and mother. Most of all, she was the Grandmother for three generations of children. Whether you were blood or not, you always felt welcome at her home. She always had a story to tell or advice to give. Now more than ever, everyone that knew or loved her will miss her wisdom.
Ann lived a full life as a devout Christian woman and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. Kent. Ann is survived by her daughter Terrie Stauffer and husband James and her son Walter Kent. She had 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Five grandchildren: Cherie, Rachel, Brandon, Alexandra, and Madeleine, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family will be conducting a private ceremony in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or charity of your choice.
