Annie Mckenzie Hughes

d. November 18, 2018

The Psalmist David tells us, Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, a blessed event took place in heaven as the Lord welcomed one of His saints home. Ann passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, in Savannah, GA. While our hearts are broken at her leaving her earthly home for her heavenly home, we will celebrate her life.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Agnes McKenzie, and her brother, George W. McKenzie. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Alicia C. Weaver (Jerry) and Joan C. Ward, her brother, James (Tootsie) W. McKinzie Sr., her sister, Betty J. McKenzie Greenlee, three grandchildren, Tammy Wabshall (John), Lori Morgan (Harold), and Savannah Ward, two great grandchildren, Sophia Wabshall and Zane Morgan, and nieces, nephews, a great niece, great nephews, and friends.

On August 12. 1935, Ann was born in Swainsboro, GA, and later moved to Savannah with her family. Although she lived in many places and traveled over the years, she made her final home in Savannah.

Ann lived an encouraged, inspired, happy, spiritual life and was a blessing to others with her genuine love of God. She was also an avid pet lover, amazing cook, and talented gardener. She enjoyed making crafts, knitting, crocheting, and reading her Bible. One of her proudest achievements was becoming a CNA and caring for her many Hospice Savannah patients. She loved God, family, friends, and her work.

Her home going celebration will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at the Hodgson Memorial Chapel at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA, 31406. Visitation from 12pm-1pm and Service at 1pm with Graveside Service immediately following at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Reverend Jonathan Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah.
