Anne Woolley Hux of Savannah, Georgia peacefully left us on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 after a four year battle with cancer.
Anne was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Anne attended North Fulton High School and graduated in 1967. After high school, Anne attended Auburn University. In 1971 she graduated with a degree in Political Science. She started a 30 year career with Travelers Insurance Company/United Heathcare, which took her to Savannah where she met her future husband, Tom. Anne spent most of her working career in Augusta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina. She and Tom later moved back to Savannah where she worked as the office administrator of The Center for Counseling.
Anne was active with the Golden Retriever Rescue Club of Charlotte, fostering and adopting many Goldens, getting them into shape with green beans and many walks. She was an active member of the Savannah Sail and Power Squadron and participated with Clean Coast.
Her strong dedication was not only seen through her work ethic but also in her friendships. She was a loyal and generous wife and friend always offering to help organize, clean, label and make sure all were set for their next endeavor.
Anne loved to dance and travel with Tom. She enjoyed snow and water skiing, scuba diving, riding in boats and drinking Michelob Light.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents Herbert C. Woolley, Jr. and Mary Farmer Woolley; and her sister, Kathryn.
Anne is survived by her husband Tom Hux; son, Jason (Noreen) Hux; step-son, Brian (Michelle) Madden of Cumming, Georgia; brother, Herbert (Charlsie) Woolley III; grandchildren, Katie Madden, Jack Madden, Caroline Hux, Hayden Hux; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will be receiving friends 12:00 noon, Friday, May 17, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral homes Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
Interment will follow and take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
