Anna Marie McNeill passed away unexpectedly in her family home on May 22, 2024 . She was 67 years old, and her family and friends are deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Anna is survived by her loving partner Jodi Joyce; her brother Richard McNeill, sister Claudia McNeill (Aimee), her only daughter Christina McNeill, loving granddaughter Caitlyn Brown (Jeremiah), three Great grandchildren Isaac, Dakota, and Josiah.
Anna was predeceased by her parents Charles R. McNeill (Ruth), Constance Timberman McNeill and brother Steve McNeill.
Anna was born on May 08,1957 in Greenwood, SC. She grew up in Savannah, Ga and attended Windsor Forest High School. She proudly played the Saxophone with the Marching Knights and graduated with the class of 1975. She later attended Savannah Technical College in the Chemical Tech Program, overseen by her father Charles R. McNeill and Studied Medical Assisting at Athens Technical College. Anna moved to New Orleans and was proud to work as a Quality Control/Safety Coordinator at PepsiCo. and soon after gave birth to her only daughter, Christina McNeill, in August of 1981.Anna went on to become a Correctional Officer at Clark County Prison in Athens, GA from 1988 to 1994.
In 1993, Anna met her forever partner, Jodi Joyce. They shared almost 31 years together full of love and laughter.
In 1996, she was recognized as a hero by Shoney’s for saving their store manager’s life after being wounded on duty, while working as a security guard.
In April of 2000, Anna became a grandmother to her first and only granddaughter Caitlyn Welch (Brown). Together they shared a very special bond and in many ways they were like best friends. Anna was then blessed with three beautiful great grandsons who were truly the light of her life. Anna was an outstanding grandmother and will forever be missed but never forgotten.
Anna was a fun spirited soul who took on many passions. After surviving kidney cancer she volunteered on the committee for Relay for Life with The American Cancer Society and was also the team captain of Team McNeill and Friends from 2011 to 2024. She loved playing softball as a pitcher for Wilks Body Shop, Busy Bees and Todd Oil. She also bowled every Tuesday night with The Ladies Night Out bowling league. Anna was a huge fan of The Georgia Bulldogs, The Atlanta Braves and The Atlanta Falcons. She also never missed a night of WWE.
Anna was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile was contagious, and she could always make you laugh. She cared so deeply for the people around her and made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 8, 2024 @1:00PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 613 E Montgomery Cross Rd, Savannah, GA 31406
