Anna Lois Edenfield Hayes, 89 of Savannah, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 27th at the home of her daughter, Kathy Jernigan in Round O, SC after a brief battle with bone cancer.
She was born May 22, 1932 in Metter, Candler County, Ga.
She moved to Savannah in early childhood where she married and raised her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was a faithful member of South Newington Baptist Church where she worshipped and served her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ander (Andy) Lee Hayes, her parents, Orie Edward(O.E.) Edenfield Sr. and Grace Helen Saxon Edenfield and her youngest sibling, Orie Edward (Ed) Edenfield, Jr.
Her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Andrew Steve Hayes and Linda Barrow Hayes of Guyton, Georgia, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Hayes Jernigan and Rev. Ken Jernigan of Round O, SC. Five grandchildren, Michael Kevin Hayes of Round O, SC, James Lee (Jamie) Hayes of Guyton, Ga , Anthony Steven Hayes (Charity) of Jesup, GA, Amanda Jernigan Tomlinson of Round O, SC and Thomas Matthew Jernigan (Kim) of Mount Shasta, CA. Six great-grandchildren,Elliet Hayes and Elijah Maxwell Hayes, Anna Leigh Tomlinson, Thomas Andrew (Andy) Jernigan, Joseph (Joey) Christopher Jernigan and Isabella (Izzy) Noelle Jernigan and step great-grandchildren , Kaidyn Brancho, Ryan Austin Dupree and Rachael Leanne Dupree. She is also survived by her sister and devoted friend, Betty L Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Agape` Hospice of South Carolina for their care and devotion during a difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Gideons International for the placement of Bibles or to South Newington Baptist Church at 453 John Carter Rd, Bloomingdale, GA 31302.
The family will receive guests at the Funeral Home Thursday, July 1st at 10:00 AM with Funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ken Jernigan and Rev. Steve McCoy. Burial will be at Westside Memorial Gardens in Bloomingdale, Ga.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Michael Hayes and Jamie Hayes. Active Pall Bearers will be Wayne Castine, Frank Luna, Anthony Hayes, Jason Castine, Phil Cottle and John Bible.
