Ann Greggs, 95, formerly of Scranton and Lake Ariel, peacefully passed away in the home of her daughter, Debbie, in Savannah, Ga., on June 11, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William H. Greggs, in March 2013.
Born in Taylor on Sept. 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Stone Steever. She graduated as salutatorian from Taylor High School, where she developed her lifelong love of reading. She was employed at the Scranton Transit Co. prior to her marriage; after raising her children, she worked at Greggs Motor Lines for many years. She was a member of the Providence and Asbury Methodist churches of Scranton, Trinity Methodist of Savannah and the Century Club.
In their early days together, Ann and her husband Bill were happiest on the dance floor, swinging the night away to the big bands of the '40s and '50s. Ann loved to play bridge with her friends at the Century Club. She also loved spending summers at Lake Ariel, where she would swim, water-ski, sail and sun on the dock for hours with family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
She is survived by her loving children, Bill and spouse, Shelley; and Debbie Loughney and spouse, Claudia; grandchildren, Jesse Loughney and spouse, Courtney; Jeff Greggs and spouse, Sacha; and Francesca Greggs; great-grandchildren, Lennon, Kieran, Ross and Isabel; brother, John Steever; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Ann's caregivers over the past years at Allied Terrace, Buckingham South and Hospice Savannah.
Visitation will be at noon Saturday, June 23, followed by a funeral service at the Fairview Memorial Park Chapel, 111 State Route 435, Elmhurst.
