Anita Parham Adair

d. July 17, 2018

Anita Parham Adair, 79, of Isle of Hope died Friday July 13 at Memorial Hospital from complications from heart surgery. She was born on June 11, 1939 in Aragon, Georgia, daughter of the late John Albert Parham and the late Florence Kinney Parham. She was a graduate of Rockmart High School.

Anita was the head nurse for Dr. Richard Schulze Sr. for over 40 years. She started working for Dr. Schulze when he first started into private practice in Savannah and stayed with him until she retired. She was one of the first female volunteer firefighters in the state of Georgia and was a member of the Isle of Hope Fire Department for over 25 years. She also served as the secretary of the department for many years. She was instrumental in re-organizing the Neighborhood watch program on the island, the Golf Cart ordinance, fighting to get the Chatham County Police Precinct back on the east district covering our area. She assisted in the USO support during troop deployments, being a vocal proponent for the future of the island and its residents so as not to be forgotten by the County Commissioners. She served on the Citizens Advisory Committee as a liaison between the police department and the citizens in our area. She was a leader in the Wymberley Garden Club serving as secretary for several years. For a while she was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and she went in as a Granddaughter which was pretty remarkable considering the Civil war ended in 1861.

She is survived by daughter Andra Adair-Morgan and her husband Dale Morgan of Isle of Hope; grandson Sam Adair Morgan of Isle of Hope; special nieces Jeri Parham of Aragon, Georgia, Melanie Mastrangelo of Bremen, Georgia; special nephews Dannie Adair of Isle of Hope; Tom Cook of Cedartown, Georgia; Michael Parham of Oro Valley Arizona; several other nieces and nephews. Other survivors include Regina and Garland Wilson, Marcus, Cayla, Brooklyn and Aiden Wilson, Casi, Sean  and Julia Dees who are all a lot more than just friends and neighbors, they truly were her family.

Remembrances: Isle of Hope Baptist Church Building Fund 22 Rose Ave Savannah, GA 31406 or Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire Department 409 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406. The pallbearers will be: Dannie Adair, Steve Christiansen, Tom Christiansen, Larry Hadwin, Marcus Wilson and Brad Wittfeld.
