Almour Frankford "Frank" Riggs, 100, of Savannah, passed gently and peacefully away on Monday, April 16, 2018.
He was born in Bulloch County, Ga., and was raised on a farm before he was called to serve his Country, during WW II. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, for his service at Gaudal Canal and Guam, where he served in the an anti Aircraft battery.
Returning from the Pacific, he led a varied and productive life for another 63 years, selling Ins urance, Cars, Installing Cable, and always finding time to go fishing, and tend 3 gardens, or shoot pool at the Moose Lodge, where he was a long time member in good standing.
He was a member of Wesley Oaks United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, and was responsible for the upkeep of the church and grounds, in Thunderbolt.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 1550, the National Rifle Association, and had formerly served in the Bulloch County National Guard from 1940 - 1945.
Frank was retired from Cablevision.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Frank Riggs, and his close friend, Florence D. Kessler, and he is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Cyndy and Lance Ball, and Andy Kessler.
Visitation: 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel.
Funeral Services: 1 p.m. Friday in the Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel, with Rev. Billy Hester and Rev. Lynn Drake,
officiating.
Interment will follow in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, in Bulloch County (4 miles south of Statesboro, on Burkhalter Road, off US Highway 67).
Remembrances: Wesley Oaks United Methodist Church.
