Allen Lynn Roush

January 13, 1956 — July 16, 2022

Allen Lynn Roush passed away Friday, July 15, 2022 at the age of 66 after battling his second round of cancer for the past ten months.

Allen Roush retired in 2014 as the Senior Fire Emergency Services Analyst, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He provided support and was responsible for the Joint Base Operations, DoDi program development, Air Force Fire Emergency Services Guidance, White House support, and All Hazards Training. Allen retired as a SMSgt who served 32 years between Active Duty and the National Guard; and another 8 years at the Pentagon. His complete military career was spent in Fire and Emergency Services, having held every position within the fire protection flight to include 10 years as Fire Chief. He had numerous deployments including supporting the Space Shuttle program, Trident Submarine operations, Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and Incident Command for over 10 major aircraft emergency response operations. He also provided support to President Jimmy Carter during flood relief humanitarian operations in Georgia, provided support to President Bill Clinton during the 50th anniversary wreath laying at Normandy Beach, provided support to both President Bush’s visits to the west coast, and worked in the emergency operations center as one of only two air force members supporting President Obama’s inauguration. However, Allen was humble, he didn't need or want credit for his accomplishments. Allen was a great patriot and an incredible man. He wanted everyone to remember him as he was.

Allen was an inspiration to so many people including his wife, Eve. He was always smiling, always positive. He put his whole heart into everything he did. Allen always wanted to do what was right. He never met a stranger, and could talk to anyone about anything. Allen loved to cook. It took him a long time to adjust to not cooking for the entire firehouse which he did earlier in his career. Allen loved to travel. This was one of the reasons he joined the military. He was always the first to volunteer to go somewhere. He didn't care where it was. These deployments took him all over the world giving him tons of experiences and stories to share. Allen loved to make people laugh. Allen could always find a way to bring humor into any situation. He was a lot of fun to be around. He was always putting the needs of others before his own. Allen loved drag racing, hiking in the mountains and spending time with his two granddaughters. Allen was always so full of life. We celebrated every day as if it were a special occasion because it was.

Allen touched so many lives. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving him is his wife of 6 years, Eve Roush. They were married December 13, 2015 in Sky Valley, Ga. "We were true partners in life. If you saw one of us without the other, you wondered what was wrong." Also surviving Allen is Eve's daughter, Sarah Bates, her husband Garrett and their two daughters, Cadence and Ryleigh Bates. Allen claimed them as his own; his mother, Mary Frances White, of Savannah, Georgia; his brother, Mark Roush and his wife, Barbara, her daughter, Kayla, of Meldrim, Georgia, and Mark's two daughters, Madelyn Roush and Harley Strickland.

Allen is preceded in death by his father, Larry Allen Roush.

A Celebration of Life event will be announced at a later date, and as always, Allen would end his conversations with...God Bless.
