Alicia Leggett Powell, age 61, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 in Savannah, GA.
Born on August 21, 1963 to Cecil and Betty Leggett in Savannah, GA, Alicia was a lifelong resident of Savannah, GA and married Bruce Powell, also of Savannah, GA on August 27, 1983. She attended Armstrong State College where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing before working as a RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Savannah. Alicia dedicated over 30 years of her life to providing patients with outstanding, quality care. She is survived by husband, Bruce and her two children, Jennifer Britt (Carson) and Evan Powell (Katie). Also her five grandchildren, Laney, Zoey, Davis Britt as well as Jade and Sonny Powell. She is also survived by her siblings, Celeste James (Raymond) and Ernest Leggett (Nancy), and their children and grandchildren: Jonathan and Krista Bethune, Ady and Grayson Bethune, and Brandon James. Also survived by her beloved dogs, Pookie and Ping.
Alicia was tireless in her efforts to instill a love for the Lord in the lives of her children and grandchildren, fully relying on God to give her the tools she needed to live a gospel-led life not only for her family, but to everyone she came in contact with. She was a dedicated member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Savannah, where she served in the Adult Choir, as the Children’s Choir Director, Interim Minister of Music, Vacation Bible School, Music Camp, Sunday School, and Children’s Church.
The family will receive visitors at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Drive on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 2:00pm with a graveside service to follow. The graveside service will be held at Greenwich Cemetery.
